Elon Musk hit by barrage of criticism after latest Thai cave rescue tweet

Elon Musk has been hit by a barrage of criticism after he posted a number of bizarre tweets about the Thai cave rescue.

Mr Musk made a series of allegations towards Vern Unsworth, a diver who was helped rescue of the children from the cave, while giving no evidence for them. The diver has said he is "astonished and very angry” by the posts, and suggested he could take legal action.

The tweets came after Mr Unsworth said that Mr Musk's plan to save the children from the cave "had absolutely no chance of working". He said that the SpaceX boss had no conception of the makeup of the caves and that his involvement was simply a "PR stunt".

Mr Musk proceeded to call Mr Unsworth "pedo guy" and suggested that he was suspect simply because he lived in Thailand.

The SpaceX boss appeared to shrug off the intense criticism of the tweets. "Bet ya a signed dollar it’s true," he wrote to one of the Twitter users who questioned his claims.

But all of the numerous posts were later deleted without explanation. Mr Musk has now not posted since the outcry began.
