All North Wales main line train services halted

An incident has closed the North Wales main line with train services halted. Network Rail said that emergency services are dealing with an incident between Llandudno Junction and Chester.

This took place this morning and the line is expected to be shut until at least 4pm this afternoon.

It has halted Avanti West Coast between Holyhead and London Euston and Transport for Wales services between Holyhead and Cardiff Central and between Llandudno/ Llandudno Junction and and Crewe / Manchester Airport. There are some rail replacement buses with more details below.

Network Rail said: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Llandudno Junction and Chester. Whilst they complete their work, all lines between these stations are closed. As a result, trains will be cancelled or revised. This is expected until 16:00."

Avanti West Coast Customer Advice:

You are advised not to travel on the North Wales coast to / from Holyhead until the lines reopen. Replacement road transport services are in operation between Crewe and Rhyl to help with your journey. If your train is cancelled, your ticket's valid on the Avanti West Coast train immediately before or after the cancelled one.

Transport for Wales Customer Advice:

Replacement road transport is in operation between Llandudno Junction and Chester. This will be operated by Llew Jones and Keanes. Please note, road transport will take longer than rail services. Therefore, please allow extra time to complete your journey.

They added: "For helpful advice if you need to travel on a rail replacement service, including accessibility and bicycle information, please use our Rail Replacement Services page. You can find the pick-up and set-down location of rail replacement services by checking station signage or by searching for your station on our Find a Station page.

"Please be advised that replacement vehicles may be busier than usual, and you should allow extra time for your journey."
