Emergency rescue as man thrown from horse on Dartmoor

A man who was thrown from his horse on Dartmoor has been rescued. The casualty was located by search and rescue teams yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, June 18) after becoming stranded on the moors.

Emergency services were called around 4.45pm to reports of a man who had become stuck on Dartmoor. Crews located the casualty and stretchered him off a hill to safety.

It is thought that the man had been thrown from his horse while out riding.

A post from Dartmoor Search and Rescue said: "Callout #23 Called by @DC_Police @ 16:45 yesterday to find a casualty who'd been thrown from his horse.

"Alongside @NDSART, we located him & paramedics arrived to provide pain relief. We stretchered him off the hill and were back at base by 22:00."
