Emergency services rush to Maldon High Street after 'child hit by parked car'
A child was taken to hospital after being hit by a parked car on Maldon's High Street. The vehicle struck the child after the handbrake on the car was left off, Essex Police said.
Police officers and ambulance colleagues were called to the High Street shortly after 4pm on Saturday (October 26). Essex Police said a parked vehicle did not have it's handbrake engaged and it rolled onto the pavement, making contact with a child.
The youngster was assessed by an ambulance crew and did not appear to be injured. They were taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford as a precaution, the ambulance service said.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a disturbance in High Street, Maldon, shortly after 4pm on Saturday 26 October. It was established a handbrake had been left off a parked car, which rolled onto the pavement, making contact with a child.
"No serious injuries were suffered, but the child was taken on to hospital as a precaution for further checks."
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called just after 4pm on Saturday with reports that a child had been hit by a car on the High Street in Maldon. An ambulance was sent to the scene. The child was assessed by the crew and did not appear to have been injured, but was transported to Broomfield Hospital as a precaution."
