Emile Smith Rowe has hailed “the best day of his life” after a man-of-the-match display for Arsenal in their north London derby win over Tottenham.

The popular Gunners midfielder, 21, was hugely influential in Sunday’s impressive 3-1 victory at Emirates Stadium, scoring his side’s first goal after sweeping home Bukayo Saka’s cutback before quickly turning provider for captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Smith Rowe has been a key figure in Arsenal’s resurgence after a dreadful start to the new season for the club under Mikel Arteta, whose side have now notched four consecutive wins across all competitions and moved up to 10th in the Premier League, leapfrogging struggling Spurs in the process.

A goal, assist and man-of-the-match performance in a north London derby triumph would be a truly special occasion for any Arsenal academy graduate, but Smith Rowe said the presence of his loved ones in the crowd on Sunday only made the experience more memorable.

"It's probably the best day of my life,” he told Sky Sports. “To have my family here as well, it's a special feeling.

"I feel like we've worked so hard. We had a tough start to the season. I feel like it's going really well at the moment but we need to keep our heads on."
