Amy Robbins has reportedly joined the cast of 'Coronation Street.'

The 51-year-old actress - who is the aunt of 'Celebrity Juice' star Emily Atack - is said to have landed a role as Christine, the mother of established character Daisy Midgeley, on the ITV1 soap opera, and in insider teased that her arrival will "really shake things up" on the cobbles.

The source said: "Christine’s arrival will shake things up. It’s a great part and one Amy could not turn down. Being able to star in 'Coronation Street' is a huge deal for any actor or actress in the industry."

Christine - who is the sister of Emily's mum Kate Robbins - is mostly known for her role as Dr. Jill Weatherill in period medical drama series 'The Royal' but has also made appearances on soaps such as 'Emmerdale' and 'Hollyoaks.'

However, even though she will only appear on 'Corrie' for a short time, the insider went on to explain that there is a "good chance" she will return depending upon how the storyline develops.

The insider told The Sun newspaper: "Though her character will initially only appear for a couple of months, there’s a good chance she may return as the mother-and-daughter story develops."

Last year, Emily's mother Kate - who came to prominence in the 1980s with top 10 hit 'More Than In Love' - enjoyed a stint on 'Corrie' rival 'EastEnders' as music agent Jen Glover and spoke of how "surreal" it was to be joining the BBC flagship.

She said: "I am so excited to be joining EastEnders as Jen, we had a ball filming the scenes. It was surreal to be sat in The Queen Vic for my first scenes with some of the legends of Albert Square. Working alongside the team was a dream and I can't wait to see the scenes on screen.
