Emily Blunt explains her kids' reaction to one of her iconic roles

Emily Blunt has shared her kids' reaction to her iconic role in The Devil Wears Prada.

The actor played the sharp-tongued fashionista – coincidentally also named Emily – in the classic 2006 film.

But whilst fans loved her snarky retorts and iconic glare, Blunt's children weren't very impressed by the character. "They thought I was the meanest person they've ever met," Blunt told Page Six.

Though her children might not approve, Blunt reflected on the huge fanbase The Devil Wears Prada has, almost two decades later. "It's incredible that it has such an indelible fingerprint on people … and it's quoted to me every week."

Reflecting on her memories of shooting the film, the star shared that she, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci all had "the time of our lives".

"At the time I was young, it was my first big movie," she said. "I remember my agent calling me and telling me about the opening weekend. I was like, 'Is that good?' Like I didn't know what was good."

Blunt has gone on to have an outstanding career, recently starring alongside Ryan Gosling in The Fall Guy. The action-comedy follows retired stuntman Colt Seavers (Gosling) as he returns to work after a serious injury, in an attempt to reconnect with his director ex-girlfriend Jody (Blunt).

Speaking to Digital Spy, Gosling praised co-star Blunt for her acting and singing abilities, claiming: "There's nothing she can't do really."

He continued: "And she's so game and inventive. It's one of my favourite depictions of a filmmaker in a film. I think she plays such a great director in this movie, because she leads... She's grace under pressure in this film.

The Fall Guy is now available to buy or rent from Prime Video and iTunes in the UK, and from Prime Video, iTunes and more in the US.
