The likelihood of a Spice Girls reunion actually happening in the near future seems slim to none, sadly.

Fans have been begging the creators of Girl Power to reunite to celebrate 20 years since they hit the top of the charts, and - for a time - it looked like Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Mel B would at least give them a partial reunion.

However, the GEM project stalled before a single was even released, and now Emma (aka Baby Spice) seems sceptical about whether a reformation of any kind is in the cards.

"It's hard to pin everyone down – we're doing our own things and we're all mums," she's now said (via The Sun). "I can't imagine a tour would happen with the kids at school and everything."

This time last year, it looked like GEM would be headlining at Hyde Park in a 20th anniversary celebration by now… but it never came to pass. Despite that disappointment, Emma says the girls are still close.

"Me and Geri are chatting away all the time. She's great," she stressed. "I've been texting Mel B a lot."

In terms of the other two Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham has argued that the Spice Girls went out on top at the 2012 London Olympics while Mel C won't agree to a reunion without Posh.

"That's where I'm at right now," Mel C said on The Nightly Show. "In fact, that's where myself and Victoria are right now. Everybody knows what an amazing thing she's done in the world of fashion.

"I kinda feel like it's not really doing the band justice going out as a four-piece. Whoever is missing – it doesn't matter! For me, Spice Girls – it's like a jigsaw puzzle. It's not the same."

Since it looks like a Spice Girls reunion isn't going to happen, let's look back fondly on the last time all five shared the stage at the London Olympic games:
