Emma Stone has opened-up about uncomfortable fan encounters she had following the release of Superbad.

The cult 2007 teen comedy was the Oscar-winner's first movie role, where she played the character of Jules.

The movie was also famous for helping to coin the acronym 'DTF' – or 'down to f**k' – a phrase that Stone had to unfortunately endure having shouted at her after the film's release.

The actress and her castmates were speaking during the Superbad: Cast Reunion and Watch Party event this week to benefit the Democratic Party of Wisconsin during the US election.

Discussing her experience, Stone admitted: "The three years after this movie came out, I cannot tell you how many people shouted at me, across malls, across parking lots, 'DTF'."

During the event, the actress also recalled feeling that the movie would do well early on as she was "crying laughing while reading the script for the first time.

"My face just hurts being around you right now... on set it was so funny," she added. "I just thought it was going to be amazing."

Stone's other big breakout role came a few years later in Easy A, and director Will Gluck recently revealed that the actress actually vomited on set while filming a fake sex scene.

"This was also the time that Emma had her fake asthma attack. She was jumping up on the bed so much she started getting physically sick," he said.

"We had to stop filming. She said she had asthma. A doctor came, treated her, and at the end she said, 'I don't actually have asthma; I'm just out of shape.'"
