Emma Stone has responded to that US teenager's La La Land 'promposal' – but it's not a Hollywood ending.

Jacob Staudenmaier's brilliant remake of the Oscar-winning film's 'Another Day of Sun' opening highway set piece, where the 17-year-old asked Emma to prom, went viral earlier this week.

And even though she's not on Twitter, the video found its way to Emma and she sent Jacob a touching response, which he read on today's (April 7) Good Morning America.

"JACOB! Thanks for making the greatest proposal I have ever received. I can't tell you what an honour that was and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video," it read.

"I'm in London working, but I hope you have the best time at prom, and I'm grateful you thought of me. THANK YOU. P.S. I do see [Ryan] Gosling around the eyes. Love, Emma."

Even though he was gently turned down, Jacob admitted that he was still going to prom and we reckon he'll have no shortage of takers after that Emma endorsement.

The proposal video was filmed over the weekend with Jacob's friends and received 20,000 retweets and 45,000 likes on Twitter.

"It's going better than expected," Jacob explained of the video. "It started with the kind of crazy idea of saying, 'Yeah, maybe I'll go with Emma Stone to the prom'. I decided if I was going to do this, I really needed to do it big."
