Emma Watson explains why she refuses to take selfies with fans

It’s always a bit of a shock when celebrities refuse to take a photo with fans who are lucky enough to spot them out and about.

Justin Bieber got royally slammed when he announced that he’ll no longer be taking any photos with his dedicated Beliebers, and Jennifer Lawrence hit the headlines last year when she revealed that she will also be rejecting all selfie requests.

Don’t expect Emma to pose for a selfie with you.

Now British actress Emma Watson has joined the stance, explaining that she won’t take any photos with fans through fear for her safety.

The star told Vanity Fair magazine: “For me, it’s the difference between being able to have a life and not. If someone takes a photograph of me and posts it, within two seconds they’ve created a marker of exactly where I am within 10 metres. They can see what I’m wearing and who I’m with.

“I just can’t give that tracking data … I’ll say, ‘I will sit here and answer every single Harry Potter fandom question you have but I just can’t do a picture.”

However, the 26-year-old star did go on to admit that she might make exceptions, adding: “I have to carefully pick and choose my moment to interact. When am I a celebrity sighting versus when am I going to make someone’s freakin’ week?

“Children I don’t say no to, for example.”

Well, you can’t say fairer than that, can you?

In the new interview, Emma also opened up about her worry that she is too serious for the acting world, sharing: “I’ve been doing this since I was 10 or 11, and I’ve often thought, I’m so wrong for this job because I’m too serious; I’m a pain in the a**; I’m difficult; I don’t fit.

The star insists that she will answer every Harry Potter question.

“But as I’ve got older, I’ve realised, No! Taking on those battles, the smaller ones and the bigger ones, it’s who I am.”

And we certainly couldn’t love her any more for it.

Never change, Emma, never change.
