The rumour is that the music mogul is keen to snap up the pair in a move which would leave this year’s hosts – Olly Murs and Caroline Flack – out of a job.

“It would cause fireworks poaching Emma and Rylan off Big Brother but Simon usually gets what he wants,” a source told the Daily Star.

“He nicked Alesha Dixon off Strictly to be a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and Rita Ora from The Voice for The X Factor.”

However, a spokesperson for the X Factor has already dismissed the report, telling The Mirror: “We haven’t even started discussing next year’s series, so this is news to us. We are really pleased with Olly and Caroline’s performance and they have brought a new dynamic to the show.”

Olly Murs job was pulled into question earlier in the series after he made a monumental on-air gaffe announcing the name of the act that was leaving the show before the decision had officially been made.

He also recently admitted he’s unsure of his X Factor future, explaining: “I don’t know if me and Caroline will be back next series - we’ll have to wait and see what happens next year.

“It’s up to Simon Cowell and his guys to make that decision.”

It’s also rumoured that in an additional shake-up to this year’s X Factor team that Tony Hadley could be called in to replace Nick Grimshaw on the judging panel.

According to bookmaker Ladbrokes, Tony is currently favourite to fill Nick’s shoes at 10/1 should he face the axe next year.
