The Voice UK presenter Emma Willis is looking forward to a new season of the ITV singing programme, and she's explained how the trios twist could change the show.

It was announced back in March that the series would be extending its search for talent by allowing trios to enter the competition, but it remains to be seen how things will work with so many voices all hitting the coaches at once.

"It adds another layer, doesn’t it? Trios. What I’m looking forward to in the battles is finding out how they make that work," said Willis.

"And what happens if there’s a trio against a trio? That’s a lot of voices to make work together. Or even a trio against a duo. Or four voices when it’s three against one."

Willis suggested that the new format will also change the dynamic of battles, with the coaches having a difficult job telling apart the opposing voices.

"How do the coaches make that work in a battle yet set them aside from each other enough for it to be a battle against each other? If one of the trio loses it does it knock the other two, so it’s interesting to see how that dynamic works I think," she said.

The Voice UK starts on Saturday, January 5 at 8pm on ITV.
