Angelica Bell, who is no stranger to The One Show sofa, will take over hosting duties first as she appears on the show for three weeks, starting on Monday 29 April. Then the “baton” will be passed to Angela Scanlon, who has acted as a stand-in for Jones on the early evening talk show on a number of occasions since 2016, for 14 days. She’ll return for another week on Monday 17 June.
Willis is filling in between 3 and 14 June, with former Great British Bake Off presenter Mel Giedroyc taking over for a week straight after. Speaking of the women who will be keeping her seat warm while she’s off, Jones said in a statement: “I know ‘The One Show’ will be in very capable hands while I’m on maternity leave and good luck to all the guest presenters – I hope they have as much fun as I do on the show.
“I’ll be back on the sofa in the autumn, but in the meantime, I plan on watching from my own sofa with little Teddy and the newest addition!”
In last night’s episode, Jones got emotional when thinking about leaving the show for several months. She took to Instagram after to say: “It feels so weird to be saying goodbye, but it’s only temporary. I’ll miss the team and lovely viewers but I’m looking forward to being just mama for a little while.”
