Emmerdale has aired a resolution for Marlon and Rhona's proposal dilemma.

Earlier this week, an emotional Marlon rejected Rhona's romantic marriage offer because he worried she was only acting out of pity — rather than love.

A heart-to-heart chat with best mate Paddy convinced Marlon that Rhona was serious about marrying him, so he planned a romantic gesture of his own, with Paddy's assistance.

In Friday's (June 17) episode, Rhona confided in Laurel that she thought a proposal would help Marlon power through his physio by giving him something to look forward to.

Laurel pointed out that Rhona wasn't thinking through her offer — what if Marlon plateaued where he is now? It might discourage him that he'd not have the wedding of his dreams instead of relishing in the recovery he has already made.

"My god, I never even thought of it like that," Rhona admitted.

Rhona made the mistake of outing her mum Mary to Laurel as an excuse for her absent-mindedness. Unfortunately, this will have complications down the road for Rhona.

Laurel went round to Marlon's, offering to help him with decorations. She encouraged Marlon to "say yes" because it's clear the couple loves one another.

Rhona later returned home to find candles lit and Marlon looking much happier. In an emotional moment, Marlon confided in Rhona he was worried he wouldn't be able to intimate with her.

"If we talked, and it doesn't go right, it might be the end," he worried.

Rhona assured him they could work on intimacy over time, first sharing a bed together again and more in time. Marlon replied: "Sounds smashing!"

She smiled as she asked: "Marlon Dingle, will you marry me?"

The two held hands as Marlon answered: "Yes."

Wedding bells will be ringing in Emmerdale once again!

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
