Emmerdale airs twist for Kyle murder case

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has aired a huge twist for Kyle Winchester's murder case.

The young boy has been facing time in a young offender's home for shooting Al Chapman to death last year, having confessed at the urging of his sinister Uncle Caleb.

Viewers know that Kyle was only trying to protect Cain when his father got involved in a fight to the death with arch-nemesis Al.

In Thursday's double bill (March 2), Amy was beside herself worrying with Kyle's court hearing looming. Caleb assured Amy and Matty his high-priced legal team had done everything possible to make sure Kyle wouldn't be taken away again.

Matty was soon on the outs with Amy when he questioned why she would still go for sole custody of Kyle if the hearing went their way.

"I need to do what's best for him. Why can't you see that?" she angrily asked.

Later, Amy suggested it was time for Matty to take sides because her worst fear was watching Kyle go down the same path Cain has.

Matty promised he'd back up Amy as long as this is "what's best for Kyle". With the hearing drawing near, Kyle admitted to Amy that he was "really scared" about what could happen to him.

Cain slipped into the house to see Kyle before the court appearance, urging his son to answer all of the questions "truthfully and honestly".

"You're my son. You make me proud every single day of your life and whatever happens, we will get through this together just like we get through everything," Cain insisted.

Cain's lawyer came round to deliver the news that Kyle wouldn't face any charges because the prosecutor put Al's death down to a "tragic hearing".

"It's over. It's actually over," Amy beamed.
