Yahoo News Emmerdale airs wedding day panic for Pete tonight
Emmerdale's Pete Barton fears he's been humiliated tonight (August 17) as Leyla Harding is nowhere to be seen at their own wedding.
The couple have both been harbouring secret doubts about whether their rushed ceremony is really the right move, but it's Leyla who seems to be struggling the most this evening when she nervously delays her own walk down the aisle.
As Pete waits anxiously in front of his friends and family, Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) appears to be making excuses to stay away by insisting on minor adjustments to her hair and make-up.
It soon becomes clear that Leyla is stalling for time as she wonders whether her wedding to Pete has come way too soon.
Finally losing patience with Leyla's lateness, Pete pops out to the toilet and makes a major decision of his own about the day.
Is there any way the couple can get their happy ceremony on track, or are they heading for disaster? Is one of them about to call it off? Could Pete's recent affair with bridesmaid Priya also cast a shadow over the day?
Anthony Quinlan, who plays Pete, recently commented: "It's all moved a little bit quickly, but I think Pete has come to terms with everything by the day of the wedding.
"Pete thinks that Leyla is more than happy to get married – up until the point where she doesn't arrive at the altar and she's turning up late. Then he starts to second-guess everything and has last-minute nerves of his own."
Emmerdale airs the wedding scenes tonight (August 17) at 7pm and 8pm on ITV.
