Emmerdale newcomer Louisa Clein has already made her mark in the village, with her character Maya Cavanagh getting herself romantically tangled with David Metcalfe.

And Louisa is keen to shake things up in the Dales even more, as she's got her eye on a part for her real-life friend Judge Rinder.

The actress has been close to the judge – whose real name is Robert – for years and he was even best man at her wedding to husband Jeremy in 2011.

And she's very keen for him to join her in the soap's green room.

"Robert has been fantastic," she told The Mirror. "His knowledge of the TV industry is extensive so he's been helping me through it with fashion tips. He's always been a rock in my life.

"I'm trying my best to tempt him on to a soap. He'd be great on Emmerdale."

The judge has already shown that he's got a diverse set of skills, having finished in fifth place on Strictly Come Dancing in 2016, so maybe a soap role is the next step in his career?

Louisa also revealed that Maya's feelings for David (Matthew Wolfenden) are totally genuine, even if her growing attraction to him causes tension with his ex Tracy (Amy Walsh).

"Maya has come out of a destructive relationship which has left her needing support and comfort," she said. "She's going into the relationship with David with hope. She really likes him."

Maya and David are set to spend the night together later this week, but how will it impact on his relations with Tracy?

Emmerdale continues tomorrow (July 16) at 7pm on ITV.
