Emmerdale is lining up a big new battle between Megan Macey and Jai Sharma over their baby daughter Eliza.

Yesterday, we revealed that Megan makes a huge mistake next week, which leads to Eliza going missing when she's supposed to be looking after her.

Jai Sharma is horrified when he learns what's happened to his little girl, and although it seems like Eliza will be okay in the end, it could just be the beginning of a nasty custody battle in the longer-term.

Gaynor Faye, who plays Megan, revealed: "Jai has got so much ammunition now. It's his ace card and Jai works like that. In Megan's eyes, Jai is always looking for something to use against her to get his own way.

"Jai can't believe that Megan would be so stupid. He takes advantage and twists it when social services get involved, because he wants to get more access to his daughter.

"As Gaynor I can empathise with Jai, but Megan decides there's no way he's getting access to Eliza and she goes into defensive mode."

Gaynor also revealed that Eliza's disappearance comes about after Megan forgets about her and leaves her in the car during a busy day, which definitely isn't her finest hour.

She explained: "Eliza has got cerebral palsy, so Megan is extremely protective over her daughter. She doesn't let her away from her very often, but she's particularly busy this time.

"Leyla is not in the office so Megan is dealing with multiple people, but she also has to pick Eliza up from nursery due to a burst water pipe there. She pulls back into Emmerdale and she gets a phone call. Because it's not part of her daily routine, she forgets that her daughter is in the back of the car and is totally distracted.

"She goes straight into her office with a client, gets chatting and it's only when she receives a phone call from Jai about Eliza that it dawns on Megan that she's forgotten about her daughter. She expects to go out and get her, but when she does, the car door is open and Eliza isn't there.

"As Gaynor, the thought of leaving a baby in a car for as long as Megan does is inconceivable – but I know it happens."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
