Emmerdale's Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) could be about to make a shock discovery about Debbie's new boyfriend Tom Waterhouse (Ned Porteous) next week.

Debbie's new romance with mysterious Tom is currently going from strength to strength, but it's becoming increasingly clear that there is more to him than meets the eye.

Viewers know that Debbie was initially unsure about whether pursuing a romance was a good idea, and now it's her mum's turn to have reservations as Charity grows increasingly suspicious about Tom's true intentions next week.

After interrogating Debbie about her relationship, Charity continues to feel unsure about Tom as he spends more and more time with her daughter.

And Charity's suspicions appear to be justified when Tom appears to be making a feeble excuse to get out of attending the public Christmas lights switch on with Debbie.

Unhappy about being given mixed signals, Debbie confronts Tom over his recent behaviour, but he attempts to reassure her by promising that he's committed to their relationship.

To prove his point, Tom even agrees to meet Charity – but it's clear all is not as it seems when Graham warns that it's not good idea.

As the villagers count down to the light switch-on by Doug, Charity tells Debbie there's something she needs to hear in private. But has Charity made a discovery about Tom? And how will Debbie react if she has?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
