Emmerdale couple face uncertain future as star admits some bosses have wanted split
An Emmerdale couple will soon be ‘as strained at the moment as we’ve ever been’ as a star opens up about times soap bosses have considered splitting the popular pairing.
Nick Miles, 61, who plays Jimmy King, has chatted to Inside Soap about the challenges his character and partner Nicola will soon face. While they've had their fair share of drama, the couple are one of Emmerdale’s longest-established.
Nick has reflected on the times the characters’ relationship has nearly come to an end. He said: “There have been a few producers who were thinking about splitting up Jimmy and Nicola and we’ve been like ‘no!’ - they haven’t done it yet. They’ve come close.

“Most people battle on in relationships, they try to figure out how they make them better. I think that’s why their pairing is so popular, because it’s most people’s experience.”
They might well be pushed to the brink in coming weeks as Jimmy struggles to accept his relation Tom King’s abusive behaviour to Belle. Nick explained: “Life at home is pretty awful for Jimmy at the moment. Nicola’s doing a lot of visiting Angel, Jimmy’s in a fight to hold on to his business, which is distracting him from looking after Nicola. It’s a really tough time.

We’ll have to see what the future holds for Jimmy and Nicola.
