Emmerdale's man-on-the-edge Russ unveiled his deadly plan during tonight's (September 7) episode of the soap.
Ever since showing up in the Yorkshire Dales last month, Rob Jarvis's character has placed a black cloud over his ex Wendy Posner, and now he's really tightening the vice.
Hungry for that £50,000 (an inheritance off Russ's late mother) she's squirrelled away for baby Harry, he told Wendy at The Woolpack: "I'm going nowhere until I get that money," before demanding that she invite Victoria Sugden down to join them for tea.
Sat across from an oblivious Victoria, Wendy seemed to convince her to lend Russ the cash for a fake loan to pay off the bank; they were threatening to repossess his house, so the lie went.
Wanting the process to be overseen professionally, Victoria put a stick in the mud that Russ feared may come to derail their agreement, so he had another word with Wendy when they were alone soon after.
"You did what you had to do to save yourself," he smiled. "Strip away the niceties and it's all anyone ever does: looks after number one.
"You better pray Victoria comes good for your sake as well as mine..."
The dodgy newcomer then rang up his mysterious contact, asking whether they'd sorted out his passport and if they could mock up a property contract in order to remove any of Victoria's hesitations.
"Don't worry, nothing's gonna go wrong," Russ promised, as he opened the car boot. "If anything does, there's always Plan B..."
The camera then cut to a sawn-off shotgun lying in the boot. Are Wendy and Victoria in danger?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
