Emmerdale's Samson Dingle, portrayed by Sam Hall, has stirred up more controversy after revealing a shocking secret. The character has been at the centre of much drama recently, particularly due to his friendship with Josh Cope (Osian Morgan).

The pair caused trouble when they attempted to steal from The Hide, leading to an altercation with Matty (Ash Palmisciano).

The situation took a dangerous turn when Josh pushed Samson into Matty, who was holding a knife, resulting in Samson being stabbed. Josh then convinced Samson to falsely accuse Matty of intentionally stabbing him.

Consequently, Matty was sent to prison, where he feared his transgender identity would make him a target. This week, he was assaulted and hospitalised, causing concern for his family.

In Thursday's episode (July 11), Moira Dingle (Moira Barton) was determined to get Samson to tell the truth about the incident so that Matty could be released from prison, reports the Express.

With the help of Mack Boyd (Lawrence Robb), she kidnapped Samson and pleaded with him to confess. After a tense confrontation, Samson finally admitted that it was Josh who had instigated the attack on Matty.

Mack suggested that Samson and Matty should lie to the police and blame Josh for the attack on Matty. Samson seemed persuaded, and Moira drove him to the police station to give a statement.

However, Samson refused to let Moira accompany him inside the station - and it was later revealed that Samson had no intention of telling the truth.

The coppers turned up at Moira's place, leaving her and Mack stunned after discovering Samson dobbed them in for kidnapping. Cain (played by Jeff Hordley) rocked up but could hardly believe his eyes as Moira and Mack were cuffed and carted off.

Emmerdale viewers were absolutely livid with Samson's betrayal of Mack and Moira. On X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, one user exclaimed: "Samson did Moira dirty there! ".

Another was in disbelief, tweeting: "Oh my god, what have you done now Samson, ffs."

Meanwhile, a third vented: "What the hell is wrong with Samson." (sic).

Joining the chorus of shock, another fan declared: "What a horrible character Samson has become, he's happy for a relative to be killed and gets another arrested to protect a mate he's had for two minutes."

Echoing the outrage, someone else commented: "So that little rat Samson has grassed on Moira and Mac smfdh that boy has no shame or conscience." (sic).

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
