Emmerdale fans 'work out' John Sugden's true identity - and Kim Tate is involved

Emmerdale enthusiasts reckon they've cracked the case of who's behind Kim Tate's (played by Claire King) kidnapping, and all fingers are pointing toward John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).

In the soap's forthcoming episodes, Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) is wracked with guilt as the blackmailer demands a whopping £50k, forcing him to offload his shares in the haulage firm to Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) to gather the cash.

But when he returns to Home Farm, Kim's nowhere to be seen. Panic sets in when the blackmailer rings, claiming they've snatched Kim and viewers suspect the new face in town, John, is the culprit.

Fans have been swapping theories on a Facebook group, with one asking: "Why was John cagey near his van when Tracy went up? Who was in there or what?" reports Express.

Replies poured in, with one fan speculating, "He has Will's money I guess," while another chimed in, "Yeah I was thinking he's cagey as he wouldn't go to the hospital or let medics look at him."

Another fan pitched in, suggesting: "He's the blackmailer and he's got Kim."

Echoing the sentiment, someone else posted: "Something strange about John, think it's Kim as she has been kidnapped and I think he has something to do with Rose."

This whirlwind of speculation follows the recent edge-of-your-seat barn blaze that nearly claimed several characters' lives.

Yet, John emerged as one of the saviours during the crisis, rescuing Ruby Milligan (Beth Cordingly) and Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb).

However, his jittery reaction to Tracy's (Amy Walsh) probing about Nate's (Jurell Carter) location, coupled with his hasty departure in his van, has raised more than a few eyebrows.

When asked about Nate's whereabouts, John confirmed that he had already left the village. He explained: "He wasn't there, he left before it happened, he mentioned Shetland."

A surprised Tracy responded: Yeah, I knew he was going there, I just thought I might have seen him before he took off."

"I am sorry," John concluded, to which Tracy added: "It's not your fault, is it."

This also led viewers to speculate that John may be involved in Nate's disappearance - but is he being honest?

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
