Emmerdale fans 'work out' Nate Robinson is 'still alive' and is working with unlikely villager

Emmerdale viewers are speculating that Nate Robinson, portrayed by Jurell Carter, could be working with an unlikely villager after he seemed to disappear without a trace, while others think he could have died from the barn fire.

In Thursday's hour-long episode, it was revealed that Ruby Milligan (Beth Cordingly) and Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) survived the barn explosion.

Mackenzie Boyd, played by Lawrence Robb, and newcomer John Sugden, portrayed by Oliver Farnworth, also made it out alive after trying to rescue those trapped inside. Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) risked their lives but managed to escape unscathed.

However, despite revealing his past as an army medic, viewers suspect John, who confirmed his departure from the village, is concealing something - and could it be Nate?

When Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) confronted John in the village, she enquired about the incident and Nate's whereabouts. "Can you smell smoke?" Tracy asked, to which John responded: "There was a fire at the farm."

A shocked Tracy queried: "What? Not a bad one though?" John replied: "Pretty much as bad as it gets."

Tracy continued to probe about who was present and if everyone escaped without harm. "Moira, Ruby, and Will were taken to hospital," John confirmed.

"But they are going to be ok?" Tracy asked, to which John admitted: "I don't know. They weren't in a good way, it didn't look good."

When questioned about Nate's location, John confirmed he had already left the village - but is he being truthful?

John clarified: "He wasn't there, he left before it happened, he mentioned Shetland."

A surprised Tracy replied: "Yeah, I knew he was going there, I just thought I might have seen him before he took off."

"I am sorry," John finished, with Tracy adding: "It's not your fault, is it."

Taking to a Facebook fan page following the episode, many fans have come up with their own theories - and they think John is being shady.

One wrote: "Why was John cagey near his van when Tracy went up? Who is in there or what?"

While someone suggested he stole Will's money, someone theorised: "A few think it's Nate. He's always been cagey over his personal stuff from the army."

"I think he has Nate in his van," a third shared while a fourth went on: "Maybe John is the blackmailer."

"Nate is still alive and is working with John, it has to be," another fan commented as one said: "I think he's hiding in John's van."

Throwing another theory into the mix, one fan said: "John killed Nate, He's in the back of John's van."

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
