Emmerdale fans think key character is missing from Jacob fallout
Emmerdale's Maya Stepney is finally facing justice for grooming her teenage student Jacob Gallagher, with the recent revelation of Maya's crimes rocking the whole village.
But fans have a pretty big question about the storyline's development: where is the reaction from Jessie Dingle (Sandra Marvin), the headteacher at Jacob's school?
Considering that Maya (Louisa Clein) worked as a teacher there, and had secret liaisons with Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) in a classroom, the school would be taking recent events very seriously.
So why haven't we seen Jessie mention Maya's arrest and trial at all, not to mention how the events have affected the school?
Viewers are very keen to know:
Ugh, I like Billy and Ellis, but I'm not interested in Jessie/Marlon or this Max stuff. And how is Jessie not involved in the Maya/Jacob fallout when she's the head teacher at a school where a teacher was abusing a pupil?! #Emmerdale

Excuse me but is there ever gonna be a reference between vile Maya/Jacob and Jessie. Don’t care for Jessie but this is ridiculous. #Emmerdale

We haven't seen Jessie so far in all this or the school governor with specific responsibility for Safeguarding who would be expected to be investigating whether procedures were being followed by the head and staff. There is a real knock on effect when this happens.

Maya's fate will be revealed next week as the outcome of her court appearance airs. She is attempting to get a lighter sentence by pleading guilty only to exchanging inappropriate texts with Jacob, but will she get away with it?
Actress Louisa Clein reckons that Maya wouldn't cope very well in prison, saying: "Because Maya can't quite accept that what she's done is wrong, she can't comprehend the possibility of a jail sentence. I suppose she's hoping she'll get a rap on the knuckles and she'll start again.
"I don't know how she'd cope in prison. It's not a nice place to be and she wouldn't be looked upon very favourably there. She's not necessarily streetwise!"
Meanwhile Maya's former partner – and Jacob's dad – David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) is struggling to cope as he continues to blame himself for Maya's grooming of Jacob and will be seen speaking to a therapist in scenes airing this week.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with extra episodes at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
