Emmerdale fans 'work out' Tom King's real attacker as 'villain' returns - and they're linked to Belle

Emmerdale fans think a villain may have returned to the village and was the one who actually stabbed Tom King (played by James Chase) in the back.

In scenes that aired on Friday, fans saw Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) rush to the hospital to see whether her husband had survived the attack. However, Vinny (Bradley Johnson) and Sam (James Hooton) were there to stop her from doing anything stupid.

"What is going on?" Belle asked as Vinny said: "You shouldn't be here."

When asked what has been said about Tom, Sam said he hoped he wouldn't make it as "that would be the best for all of us."

"I need to go in there," Belle replied as she tried to barge past her family. Vinny ordered: "You need to go home, I am begging you, Belle."

"Vinny is right, you are going to blow everything," Sam explained.

"I already have, haven't I, Sam? If Tom dies, that is another life I have taken, how do I live with myself?" Belle asked before adding: "And if he survives, if he lands me in it, then my life is over. So whatever happens I am screwed."

"He has won, hasn't he?" Belle sobbed.

Despite Belle confessing to her family that she had stabbed Tom, viewers at home aren't so convinced and they think someone else did it.

While some have predicted her brother Cain (Jeff Hordley), others have suggested it could be Lydia (Karen Blick).

However, a lot of fans have suggested Lachlan (Thomas Atkinson) could have been the real culprit.

Lachlan was responsible for the deaths of characters including his on-screen mother Chrissie Sugden (Louise Marwood) and his grandfather Lawrence White (John Bowe). He exited the soap in 2018 when he was finally apprehended for his dreadful deeds.

Taking to a Facebook fan page dedicated to the soap, one fan theorised: "I think it's Lachlan who got to Tom. Ross comes back to search for the killer of his wife who is in the village and I think it's Lachlan."

Another asked: "Why Lachlan? I think somehow it was Cain."

While someone else agreed: "Lachlan could have escaped or got an early release."

A fourth added: "Lachlan, now that would be interesting, wasn't he worse than Tom?"

"Could be Ross," another suggested while one went on: "I think it's Lydia."

If Tom dies from his injuries Belle could be in the clear, however, if he makes it, this could be the end for the Dingle stalwart.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
