Emmerdale fans are growing worried about Tracy Metcalfe after Wednesday's episode may have offered a hint at what's to come.

The show recently confirmed that someone will lose their life this summer when the factory catches on fire, and producer Laura Shaw confirmed that Tracy (Amy Walsh) will be trapped inside before an explosion happens.

Last night, Tracy's father Frank Clayton (Michael Praed) had a touching conversation with Pete Barton (Anthony Quinlan) where they discussed the importance of family.

"You stuck with [Rhona]," Frank said. "That's loyalty. It's non-negotiable. I feel the same way about Megan. I mean, you're either all in or what's the point?"

And talking about the children, he commented: "You're family to [Leo] now, like I am to Eliza, you know?

"Dad to my girls. Granddad to Johnny.

"The older you get, the more important that becomes. Friends come and go, but family – they're forever."

The timing of the conversation ahead of the summer's big storyline has led some viewers to speculate that – with both Tracy and Frank featured in the recent dramatic trailer – one of them could die.

This summer will also see Ryan Hawley leave the show, as his character Robert Sugden's pursuit for revenge against Lee Posner comes to a dramatic conclusion.

Emmerdale currently airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
