Troublesome Emmerdale teen Josh Crowther returns to his old tricks next week by stealing a shotgun from Eric Pollard.

Josh (Conner Chapman) slips back into his old ways at the worst possible time, getting up to no good just when Eric was starting to trust him.

Emmerdale fans have seen a long-running feud between the pair recently, which started when Josh broke into David's shop and attacked Eric.

Next week we'll see Josh finally get into Eric's good books by kindly stepping in to fix his broken-down car, saving his planned date with Faith Dingle.

The schoolboy is later pleased when Eric makes his own attempts to build bridges between them, but Josh's mate Jamie is stunned to see them high-fiving at the shop and records some embarrassing footage to use against him.

Clearly wound up and keen to prove himself as a troublemaker again, Josh foolishly takes Eric's shotgun. After some teasing from Jamie and his gang, it's not long before the gun is fired in a dramatic incident and the police are called to the village to investigate.

Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) also gets implicated, but he refuses to lay any blame on his new friend Josh. As the situation gets out of control, will Eric live to regret ever trusting Josh?

Chris Chittell, who plays Eric, revealed: "Josh thinks it's okay to steal a firearm and he has clearly not thought about it one iota. I cannot for the life of me see why, but there is obviously something inside that little head of his that justifies it.

"Lives are at risk because you've got a shotgun out there and no doubt Josh has got cartridges. He's also not a responsible person at all."

Asked how Eric feels afterwards, Chris laughed: "He's bereft of any good feelings towards this oik Josh! For the time being, he's lost and he doesn't trust anybody now.

"It will also affect Pollard's relationship with Jacob, because if it wasn't for Jacob, perhaps Josh would not have burgled Pollard's place in the first place.

"I don't think Pollard can deal with all of this stress. He's on the back foot here. He's already got a dodgy ticker, so this can only exacerbate that situation!"

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Wednesday, August 9 at 7pm on ITV.
