Yahoo News Emmerdale hints at Joe's attacker in new cliffhanger
Emmerdale has hinted that Cain Dingle and Ross Barton could be responsible for Joe Tate's traumatic ordeal later this week.
The ITV soap has been teasing a comeuppance for Joe when a masked attacker holds him at gunpoint and leaves him to die in Tuesday night's episode.
While the identity of the culprit is still a secret, the week's first visit to the Dales may have contained a few hints, with Cain swearing revenge against his daughter's devious ex.
Monday's Emmerdale episode (January 22) saw Cain and Ross swoop in to stop Debbie from doing something stupid, as she covered Home Farm in petrol and threatened to blow it up.
Debbie wasn't too pleased about her father and her bad boy ex disrupting her plans, but once she'd stormed off in a huff, Cain told Ross that he had his own plans for payback.
Ross asked: "What now then? Like you said, I've helped her out enough times, I can help her out again. And I've got to admit, that was a pretty good opening shot. You really don't mess with Debs, do you?"
Cain replied: "That's right, you don't. And he's about to find that out the hard way."
In Tuesday's Emmerdale, Joe will jog through the woods and come face-to-face with a man in a mask. The guy approaches with a shotgun and Joe scrambles away, falling over a trip-wire and then into a pit covered by some moss.
Joe is petrified as the gunman leaves him to die, but could Cain or Ross be the one behind the mask? And what's Ross up to when he later arrives to rescue Joe? We'll just have to tune in to find out…
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
