Emmerdale will hint at Megan Macey's exit from the soap under grim circumstances.

Upcoming scenes will see Megan (Gaynor Faye) conflicted over whether she wants to attend the funeral of her former partner Frank Clayton, who died in the Sharma & Sharma sweet factory fire.

Police have been misled into thinking Frank started the fire after Kerry Wyatt covered her own tracks by shifting blame onto him.

As the funeral approaches, Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) is barely holding herself together while Kerry (Laura Norton) tries to maintain her cool.

Fragile Megan is stunned when Tracy (Amy Walsh) shares with her the ring box that she believes Frank was retrieving from the factory when he died.

As a heartbroken Megan slips the ring on, she instantly breaks down in her grief over what she's just found out about Frank's tragic death.

The villagers gather for the ceremony, so Tracy uses the chance to try to prove Frank's innocence to them. She ultimately gets furious when Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) does not support her in front of the congregation.

When the funeral continues, Megan delivers some harsh words to those gathered in the church. After making a life-changing decision, is this the last we'll see of her?

Earlier this year, Gaynor Faye confirmed that she would be leaving Emmerdale in order to "push [herself] out of [her] comfort zone".

"I’ve been on the show for over six years and have naturally reached a point where I’d like to do some other stuff," she explained to OK!.

Emmerdale currently airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
