Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has hinted that Leyla Cavanagh could face tragedy next week.

Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) is pregnant with her husband Liam's baby, but is keeping the news from him as she fears that it's not the right time for their relationship.

Earlier in the summer, Liam (Jonny McPherson) was left devastated by the tragic death of his teenage daughter Leanna.

Leyla fears that Liam isn't in the right headspace to deal with news of a baby on the way. When Liam recently found one of Leyla's pregnancy tests, she lied to him by claiming that Andrea Tate had bought it.

Liam then confirmed Leyla's worst fears by admitting that he wouldn't have been able to cope if she was expecting a baby.

Emmerdale's official spoilers for next week's episodes have now revealed an upsetting time ahead for Leyla.

In emotional scenes, Leyla fears that she's losing the baby and is privately distraught over the possibility.

However, Leyla's focus remains on protecting Liam, feeling that he needs her support.

The ITV soap hasn't yet revealed whether Leyla will suffer a miscarriage or whether this is a false alarm.

Meanwhile, Leanna's killer Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) – who still hasn't been brought to justice – will also be taking centre stage in next week's episodes.

In tense scenes, Meena continues to target Victoria Barton, believing her to be a rival for David Metcalfe's affections.

Meena ultimately risks being caught out when she breaks into Victoria's home and takes one of her belongings – but will David catch her with the missing item afterwards?

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Friday, September 3 at 7pm on ITV.
