Emmerdale looks to be setting up Will Taylor to go down for DI Malone's murder – despite him not being involved in the corrupt police officer's suspected disappearance.

In tonight's episode (Monday, August 24), Will (Dean Andrews) was dragged into the local station for an intense inquiry, where he was grilled about his fraught relationship with missing Malone (Mark Womack).

Elsewhere, his daughter Dawn (Olivia Bromley) found herself consumed with guilt, aware that the main reason the police think her father has been up to no good is because she reported the copper for blackmailing him in the first place.

"I don't know anything about that," Will insisted to the doubting detective, as the latter started to probe him about his personal life.

"Must be strange, being back together with Harriet all things considered. She worked with Malone back in the day... She helped put you behind bars, and now you're living together. That's quite the reconciliation," the investigator continued. "Lots of pieces still to slot together. But we'll get there.

Later, Harriet (Katherine Dow Blyton) tried to console a spiralling Dawn, ensuring her that if she hadn't have hit him over the head when he was threatening her, he probably would've ended up killing them both.

"We buried him. We actually buried him," Dawn said, as Harriet replied: "It was him or us. I don't want to see you like this."

In a last ditch attempt to make Dawn feel better, Harriet rang up her former colleagues at the station and asked whether they could tell her why Will was yet to be released.

"They're keeping your dad in for further questions," she said, once she hung up the phone. "It's not looking good. It seems they think he's responsible for Malone's disappearance..."

Emmerdale currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm on ITV.
