Next week on 'Emmerdale': Matty burned in horrific accident, plus Rhona attacks Brenda (spoilers)
It’s an aftermath week on Emmerdale over the 13-17 September 2021, with the ITV soap keeping the outcome of the siege at the Hide under wraps.
If you remember from last week’s spoilers, we had Russ taking Victoria and Wendy hostage at gunpoint before a shot rang out. What happens next is to remain a closely guarded secret until the scenes air, but there’s plenty of drama elsewhere in the village, so read on for more.
Cathy comes clean
Cathy has been watching poor April suffer for weeks, but the youngster is to finally confess her sins. But her shock admission will spark new tensions and a big rift.
What we’ll see is Cathy trying to comfort a distraught April after she’s once again bombarded with bullying messages. But April tells her to stay away before she becomes a target too.

The next day, Cathy and Heath both start to feel wretched when they realise that April has skipped school. Knowing that she now has to come clean, Cathy ends up breaking down and revealing to a shocked April that she instigated the online trolling.
As April reels before heading off in an irate state, Cathy is left feeling fearful of what the consequences will now be.
A violent showdown
So, the next day will see things intensify, as April tells Rhona that she’s being bullied again but now knows who’s behind it. Heath, meanwhile, will be witnessed breaking the news to Bob and Brenda that Cathy has gone missing overnight.
A panicked Bob instigates a search, but it’s actually Rhona who finds Cathy and tells her that she’s now going to reveal all about her tormenting April. Main Street then becomes the scene of a fraught confrontation as Cathy tries to run away, only for Rhona to grab hold of her.
But when Brenda then also gets involved, she ends getting the elbow from Rhona, which catches her in the face. Another shove then results in Brenda falling roughly to the floor, with everyone involved in the fracas left shocked by what has happened
In the aftermath, Bob is left emotional as he’s forced to face his failings as a father, but when he tries to talk to Marlon, tensions start to run high and a family rift forms that is soon appearing irreparable.
Matty is burned in a shock accident
With Marlon feeling stressed-out on both the home and work front, he ends up asking Matty at the last minute to help with the Woolpack barbecue, offering to pay him cash in hand.
But as a pleased Matty gears up to use the grill, he squirts lighter fluid on the barbecue, which sends up a fireball of flame that burns his hands.
Following the accident, Marlon is seen chastising himself as Chas points out that if Matty decides to sue, they could lose everything. And, sure enough, the financial pressure is soon mounting when, the very next day, Moira insists to Chas that Matty is entitled to compensation as the injuries have left him unable to work.
But as Chas frets about how they’re going to afford the pay-out, an unexpected and unwelcome offer comes in…
