Emmerdale's Rhona Goskirk will fear for her young son Leo after being brutally raped by her new husband Pierce Harris.
Rhona featured in upsetting scenes on Monday night as Pierce (Jonathan Wrather) subjected her to a shocking sexual attack just hours after marrying her.
With fans now wondering what Rhona will do next, Zoe Henry – who plays her – has explained that her character's biggest concern will understandably be her little boy Leo.
"She's terrified because she doesn't know what or who she's going back to," Zoe told Inside Soap. "But her main priority is her son Leo.
"Pierce has been so aggressive and awful that she's now frightened for her little boy's safety. Without question, I think if she'd ever thought there was a danger of this sort of thing happening, she would have got out a long time ago.
"But of course, she didn't think it was possible. It's gone beyond anything she could have imagined. "
Speaking more about the aftermath of Rhona's attack yesterday, Zoe said: "She feels not that she deserves this, but that she's brought this about.
"She's seen signs and she's ignored them and she's defended him, and she's pushed her friends away. Here she is on her own and where does she go from here? That's the question, isn't it?"
Emmerdale continues tonight (April 26) at 7pm on ITV.
