It certainly won't be an easy watch, but there's no denying that Emmerdale will provide the biggest talking point this week when Pierce violently attacks and rapes Rhona on their wedding night in a dark storyline.

The couple are all smiles as they head down the aisle tonight, but twisted Pierce is still hiding his simmering resentment over Rhona's reaction to his mum's visit last week and her secret kiss with ex-hubby Paddy.

When paranoid Pierce later drops the bombshell that he's bought them a house miles away from the village, Rhona reacts badly to his controlling behaviour and there's an almighty row, which culminates in a violent sexual assault.

Pierce stoops to new lows when he tries to downplay what happened afterwards, but will Rhona let him get away with it? Or will she find the strength to report him to the police?

2. Coronation Street: Bethany sleeps with Nathan's friend (Friday at 8.30pm on ITV)

Corrie has some equally disturbing scenes on the way this week as Nathan's evil plan finally comes to fruition. After weeks spent manipulating Bethany, groomer Nathan believes she can finally be persuaded to sleep with his sleazy friend Neil.

Nathan starts off by convincing Bethany to spend some alone time with Neil, claiming that they're in his debt and need to keep him sweet. Bethany agrees to a "date" with Neil but she's horrified at the end of the evening when she realises that she's expected to go to bed with him.

Although Bethany does go through with it, the unsettling encounter finally leaves her questioning Nathan's intentions and what he's capable of. Could this be the beginning of the end for their inappropriate relationship?

3. EastEnders: Max's scheming finally gathers pace (Monday at 8pm and Tuesday at 7.30pm on BBC One)

After three months of biding his time since his meeting with the mysterious Chairman of Weyland & Co, it looks like Max is finally going to take action this week in his revenge plan against the Square. We've already seen him suggest to Shirley that she should sell the freehold of the Queen Vic to help pay for Lady Di's life-saving operation and he ups the pressure on her tonight.

Realising the Carters' beloved dog comes first, Shirley makes contact with absent landlady Linda, who agrees to the idea as long as Mick doesn't find out. So is this the moment that Max gets his grubby hands on The Vic? And once he's back (whenever that may be), how will Mick react when he finds out he's been kept in the dark by his own mum and wife? We demand another scene of him trashing The Vic to liven things up!

4. Hollyoaks: Ste gives his plea (Thursday at 6.30pm on Channel 4)

So, is Ste Hay guilty or not guilty of brutally killing his ex-girlfriend Amy Barnes? Fans reckon he's innocent and Harry comes to the same conclusion this week when he realises that Ste's "memories" of killing her are about as reliable as dodgy DS Armstrong's detective skills.

Needing his chance to get through to Ste and convince him of his own innocence, Harry causes a scene in the middle of the courtroom at the plea hearing to delay proceedings, then demands a last-minute meeting with Ste. Somehow Harry's bizarre behaviour gets him the alone time he wants with his boyfriend, but will Ste listen to him and plead not guilty?

5. Neighbours: Finn makes a shocking new move (Wednesday and Thursday at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5)

With Fake Dee out of the picture, it's new teacher Finn Kelly who's sparking all of the intrigue around Erinsborough these days. Although he's seemingly fixated on rising through the ranks at Erinsborough High (despite only being there for five minutes!), Finn does find time for romance this week when he finally convinces Elly to give him another chance and they end up sleeping together.

Finn's intentions towards Elly seem genuine for at least half an episode, but he's quickly up to no good when he spreads the word of their reunion at school. With Finn in the running for a deputy head position, his sneaky act leads to Susan being kicked off his interview panel to avoid a conflict of interest, given that she's Elly's aunt. Susan isn't Finn's biggest fan, so was this his main motivation for pursuing Elly again all along? You bet it was...

6. Emmerdale: Baby Eliza goes missing (Thursday at 7pm and 8pm on ITV)

Megan may be playing into Jai's hands later this week when she makes a terrible mistake while looking after her baby daughter Eliza. The no-nonsense businesswoman is preparing for an afternoon of meetings when she suddenly has to pick Eliza up from nursery due to a burst water pipe there.

Although Megan brings Eliza home safely, she's seemingly flummoxed by being out of her usual routine. This means she accidentally leaves the baby in her car and goes straight back to work, forgetting all about her.

By the time Megan finally remembers Eliza, she heads back outside to find that she's disappeared from the car without explanation. Although Eliza is later found safe and well, could this be the chance Jai needed to fight Megan for custody?

7. EastEnders: Fi Browning arrives (Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One)

Could this mysterious new arrival be about to give the Square a shake-up? EastEnders bosses are still keeping their cards very close to their chests when it comes to Fi and her storyline, except the fact that she's a sophisticated businesswoman who could have an ulterior motive for arriving in Walford.

Seemingly not wasting any time, Fi clashes with one family in particular upon her arrival, so there'll be tensions from the start. Everyone had better get used to her, though – with Celebrity MasterChef champ Lisa Faulkner confirming that she'll be sticking around in the role for at least six months.

8. Coronation Street: The walls close in on Adam (Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV)

Things aren't looking too good for Adam Barlow this week as he remains the prime suspect for Ken's attack. Needing to explain why his own fingerprints link him to the scene of the crime, Adam finally confirms that he was in Number 1 on the night Ken was shoved – but only because he was picking up some cash that Amy had helpfully left out for him.

Hell-bent on seeing Adam sent down for the crime, Amy denies all knowledge of this while being quizzed by the police, which could well seal his fate. Even Ken starts to accept that Adam must be guilty and he concentrates on building bridges with the rest of the family, having snubbed them all since his tumble down the stairs.

But with a while to go until this whodunit is resolved, we fear Ken's being a bit hasty here...

9. Hollyoaks: Mercedes reveals a new Amy clue (Friday at 6.30pm on Channel 4)

No whodunit plot is complete without a witness suddenly remembering a crucial piece of information weeks after the event, so it's no surprise to see Mercedes McQueen unexpectedly piping up this week. After seeing pictures of Ste from the night Amy died, Mercedes remembers more details about the mystery person she saw going into Amy and Ryan's flat around the time of the murder.

Could Mercy's description provide a whole new suspect for the police to ponder over, or are they so convinced of Ste's guilt that they'll no longer care? We fear it'll be the latter!

10. Home and Away: Ash comes face-to-face with his 'dead' brother (Monday and Tuesday at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5)

The Aussie soaps love a back-from-the-dead twist and it's Ash's turn to get a life-changing shock this week when it's confirmed that his brother Luke is still alive. Following a trail of clues with help from his copper girlfriend Kat Chapman, Ash is stunned to come face-to-face with Luke – or Patrick, as he's now known.

There's no chance of a cosy family reunion when Ash punches Patrick on the spot for faking his death and keeping him in the dark for so long. The tension continues even when his brother explains the sad reasons why he made such a drastic decision. Kat encourages Ash to give Patrick a chance, but will he listen?
