Yahoo News Emmerdale releases eerie promo teasing Emma comeuppance
Emma Barton could be about to get her comeuppance for her role in the death of her husband James as she bows out of Emmerdale.
The soap has teased her exit storyline in a chilling new promo, which sees Emma walk through smoke as she is soundtracked by eerie atmospherics.
"I am trying to get it right in my own, twisted way," she says as she stares towards the camera.

The tweet is captioned: "NEXT WEEK ON #EMMERDALE No exchanges. No returns. All decisions are final. The past has come to collect what Emma owes...#NoReturn #EmmaDale".
Emmerdale confirmed back in May that Gillian Kearney would be leaving as the character, though the exact details of how she will bow out have remained under wraps.
Given that she pushed James off a road bridge that later led to his death, it looks like events will finally catch up with her – either ending up behind bars or going the way of James herself and being killed off.
Laurel is the only one who knows the whole truth out of the other characters. Finn knows most of what happened too, but the rest of the villagers remain oblivious.
Producer Iain MacLeod teased last week: "There's a character in John Steinbeck's classic novel Of Mice and Men called Lennie, who loves mice so much he keep squashing them – and I feel that Emma is like that.
"She's got this pathological need to squeeze everything she loves so hard that it ends up dying on her. That trait will come back poignantly as part of her exit storyline."
Kearney was originally slated to leave back in May 2017, though the show confirmed to Digital Spy that it had "asked her to extend her contract to play the last chapter of Emma Barton's story".
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
