Emmerdale's Rakesh Kotecha faces a terrifying situation next week as he's attacked and kidnapped by a mystery culprit.

The shocking turn of events comes shortly after Rakesh has gone public over his reunion with his wife Priya Sharma, which clearly hasn't gone down well with everyone.

Priya's father Rishi and brother Jai are both livid when they hear that she's given Rakesh another chance, while Jimmy and Nicola King aren't pleased either as they haven't forgiven him for starting last year's Mill Cottage fire.

Even David Metcalfe is a potential suspect, as he doesn't want Priya (Fiona Wade) to move away with their baby daughter Amba when Rakesh takes a new job overseas.

With the tension mounting, someone decides to take drastic action by attacking Rakesh and holding him captive while he's bound and gagged.

Surprisingly that's just the start of it, with the situation quickly escalating when things spiral even further out of control.

Pasha Bocarie, who plays Rakesh, revealed: "These scenes were very intense to film. I think fans are really going to be surprised and shocked by them.

"They won't be disappointed because there's a lot of action. It's very much like a dark comedy. Just when you think it's light, it gets very dark and very serious. It's well-written and well-directed.

"There's also a big stunt involved and I did part of that myself. It was one of the riskiest things I've ever done. Filming that was an adrenaline rush. I love a challenge and I trusted everyone there to make sure that it was done properly.

"Days like that are ones that everyone looks forward to - when you get to do something different and push boundaries. Both of us involved in this were really excited about this scene - and we really pushed ourselves to the limits."

Discussing who the culprit could be, Pasha laughed: "There's a list of people who want to get Rakesh, so it could be anyone really! Rakesh is frightened for his life because things turn nasty when you least expect it. It gets out of control and that's when Rakesh starts to worry."

Pasha also answered two more burning Emmerdale questions - is Rakesh really leaving the village to start his new job? And will he ever be forgiven by the Sharmas?

He explained: "It's a difficult situation, because Rakesh knows that if he goes away, Priya would have to leave her family and Amba behind. He doesn't want that to happen. So even though it might have been the easiest thing to do, he realises that he has to stick around.

"I don't really think he'll ever be fully accepted by the Sharmas again, though. He's going to always have a problem with Jai. They've always had history and there's probably only room for one black sheep! But Rakesh just wants to have his own life with Priya, so it doesn't bother him if her family don't accept him."

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Tuesday, February 28 and Wednesday, March 1 at 7pm on ITV.
