Moira attacked Cain in tonight's episode (January 3) of Emmerdale, and some viewers were "uncomfortable" with the level of violence displayed.

Despite her recent history of pushing people to their deaths, viewers were shocked to see Moira attack Cain in such a vicious manner, after he'd told her he loved her.

The assault also came as Cain destroyed Moira's evidence in Emma's murder trial, which definitely didn't help things.

After telling Moira that he'd done it because he couldn't be without her and loved her, Moira replied that she hated Cain and punched him several times until he was spitting blood.

The scenes were pretty graphic and have since drawn criticism from some fans, who took to social media to complain about airing the violent domestic violence attack 1) at all, and 2) pre-watershed.

To put it in context, it should be noted that Emmerdale and other soaps have a history of tackling big issues like domestic violence at pre-watershed times.
