Marlon’s stroke
They’ve stumbled over many hurdles, but finally Marlon and Rhona have decided to get engaged, with each having put in motion plans to propose.
But what should be a joyous moment is marred when Marlon heads back to Smithy to retrieve the engagement ring, only for his vision to suddenly become impaired. The chef then tries desperately to cling to consciousness, while trying to remember the FAST acronym (Facial weakness, Arm weakness, Speech problems, Time to call 999).

Meanwhile, young April is worried her dad has been missing a while and rushes home. And after finding Marlon collapsed, she calls for an ambulance. Later, at the hospital, an emotional Rhona learns that Marlon has had a stroke and sits with him as he’s prepped for surgery. But he’s in a confused state and is unable to speak.
The pressure getting too much for her, Rhona bolts from the room to conceal the fact that she’s crumbling – her fear being that this one incident will now shape the rest of their lives.
Charity and Chas settle their differences
Charity calls in on Sam and Lydia who offer her some advice: make amends with Chas before it’s too late.
These words that hit home after what’s happened to Marlon, and Vanessa is soon seen reassuring Charity that he’s bound to recover, using her own cancer survival story as a point of reference.

Chas, too, is getting a talking-to from Lydia, who challenges her to be the bigger person and end the feud with Charity. And, eventually, Chas tries to do just that as she joins the rest of her family at the Woolpack and settles back into her old rhythm behind the bar with Charity.
However, the pub is struggling without its chef and heart to heart results in Charity pleading with Chas to move back in. But what decision will Chas end up making?
Manpreet’s shock decision
Manpreet has decided not to face her sister Meena in court. But when she tells Liam that she won’t be testifying, the atmosphere quickly sours.
The GP understandably wants to get justice for his daughter Leanna, but will this be possible if those in the village don’t speak out against her murderer?
Hope for Laurel and Jai?
After discovering all about Marlon’s health crisis, Jai’s eager to support Laurel however he can. And while babysitting the kids, he realises just how desperately he misses life with his family.
Laurel, meanwhile, is set to experience guilt after lying to Arthur about the reason for the break-up in order to preserve his image of Jai. Later in the week, Jai expresses hope that the relationship can be salvaged, but Laurel is having none of it and shows him the door.
Aware of the ongoing tensions but oblivious as to the cause, Arthur ends up accusing Laurel of sleeping with someone else. And it’s left to Jai to set him straight on the matter and reveal the truth.
