As Nicky glances up at Caleb, his dad refuses to intervene. And when Nicky then snatches up a spanner, Cain responds with another punch, this time to his opponent’s face. Later on, in the Woolpack garden, Nicky admits to Caleb that he wanted to steal the vehicle. But Caleb has a warning for his seething son: to stay in his lane.
Marshall dices with death
When Marshall catches Cathy with some vodka she’s swiped from the B&B, the troubled teens slip off together to numb their pain. Over at the cricket pavilion, the pair share their troubles while swigging from the vodka bottle. But while Cathy turns green as the effect of the alcohol, it soon becomes apparent that Marshall has no intention of stopping.
Meanwhile, Bob, Laurel and Brenda are out looking for the kids, worried about what they’re getting up to. And when they’re found, Cathy ends up vomiting while Marshall hands over the booze.
Later on, Arthur ends up feeling rejected when a sluggish Marshall takes himself off to bed. But what no one realises is that Marshall has a second bottle of vodka in his possession, which he turns to while alone. The next day, Laurel emits a guttural scream when she finds Marshall unconscious with vomit around his mouth. Can he recover from this binge?
Tom King returns – with an eye on Belle
A mysterious figure will be seen eyeing Belle, and this village newcomer is eventually set to be revealed as Tom King, son of the late Carl.
As they catch up, Belle and Tom start to flirt with each other. And when Tom asks Belle out for a drink, there’s a definite glint in her eye. Will romance be on the cards when the pair meet up the following day?
Cathy runs away after attacking Bob
Cathy’s headteacher suggests she defer a year as she won’t be granted an access arrangement without a formal diagnosis. But not wanting to be held back, Cathy pleads with Miss Cathcart to let her take the exams.
Annoyed by the situation, Cathy then hits the bottle in the company of Marshall, only to regret her actions the following day. Ashamed by her behaviour, she flies off the handle with Bob and scratches him by accident with her keys. Despite his cheek now bleeding, Bob hugs Cathy but after he leaves, she takes a packed rucksack out from behind the sofa.
And with tears in her eyes, she exits the B&B and heads off into the night…
Will Mary leave with Faye?
Faye drops a bombshell on Mary: she needs to return to Ecuador to help run the women’s refuge. But when an upset Mary tries to persuade her to stay, Faye’s response is that she ought to come with her.
After explaining the situation to Rhona, we then see a conflicted Mary pass up the opportunity – much to the relief of her daughter. But when she later calls in on Suzy, Mary opens up about the reason for turning the offer down. The answer? It’s all due to her wanting to be around for Rhona.
Suzy then reveals her regret at not following Vanessa to Canada, but at least she will be coming back to the village at some point. This leaves Mary with food for thought – but will she change her mind about the opportunity to leave with Faye?
