Emmerdale's Michelle Hardwick has teased that Vanessa Woodfield's relationship with Rhona Goskirk and her abusive fiancé Pierce Harris is going to get "a lot darker".

Chatting to the Daily Star, Michelle admitted that she loves playing Vanessa as she reflects the viewers and how they feel about the controlling and manipulative Pierce.

"What I especially love about this storyline is the fact that Vanessa is representing the audience at home," she said. "She's tearing her hair out like everyone watching because she can see exactly what Pierce is doing."

Revealing the extent to which fans think Pierce will go with Rhona, Michelle added: "Things are going to get a lot darker in the coming weeks.

"I've been off work, posting pictures on social media and the fans are convinced that Pierce is going to kill Vanessa."

Hinting at the arrival of a mystery guest at Rhona's hen do later this week, Michelle admitted that their involvement might be Vanessa's "last chance" at stopping the upcoming wedding.

"All I can say is the mystery guest she brings to the hen do is brilliant," she teased. "Could this be her last chance at stopping the wedding and making Rhona see sense? You'll all have to wait and see."

Hoping to score a victory in her bitter war with Pierce, Vanessa convinces a face from his past to visit the village in scenes that will air this Thursday (April 20).

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
