Emmerdale newcomer Dean Andrews has revealed that he wants Will Taylor to have a long-term future in the village, despite his villainous behaviour.

Will has made a dramatic start to his time in the ITV soap – secretly terrorising his ex-wife Harriet Finch as revenge for getting him sent to prison years ago.

Next week's episodes see the dark storyline escalate as Will finally confronts Harriet in person and tries to crush her with a coffin at the church.

However, speaking about other potential plans for his character, Dean revealed: "I'm in for as long as they'll have me. I love the show. I think it's great. It's a nice time for me to come in, having done some nice work in the past.

"I always wanted to be part of the show, being from Yorkshire and being just down the road. Everybody I've spoken to says it's a lovely place to work and so far, so good."

He laughed: "I'd love to stick around and have 43 affairs and have 12 kids and end up owning the café! I just hope that Will gets some nice things to do. I hope he sticks around.

"If they don't feel like he's going to stick around then I'll be back on the job market. There's lots that could be played out – I could end up marrying Harriet! I don't know.

"There's loads of options. There's lots of ladies in the show. Whether he becomes a bit of a ladies' man or he pinches somebody's wife.

"It would just be nice to play some drama and keep it pretty real and keep it gritty. I'm sure there's lots of storylines they could find for him if they felt like keeping him."

Next week's coffin showdown follows several weeks of Will causing trouble for Harriet from the shadows – including silent phone calls and breaking into her home.

Dean added: "Will does all kinds of things just to freak her out. He does an order of service, as if she's going to die, so he gets the coffin ready for her.

"It's that kind of thing psychologically. But maybe he wants to kill her?"

Emmerdale currently airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with extra episodes at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
