Emmerdale star Michael Parr has hinted that he might not be happy with the direction his character Ross Barton has taken.

The actor, who has played Ross since 2013, described his alter-ego as a "wet flannel" while replying to fan's question on Twitter.

When one of Michael's Twitter followers asked if he saw Ross as a mini-Cain Dingle, he replied jokingly: "He used to be. Now he's just a bit of a wet flannel who gets sparked off everyone in the village and gets mugged off all the time by Debbie."

He's got a point, to be fair, as Ross was recently dragged into his ex-partner Debbie's scheme to clinch a lucrative deal with newcomer Tom Waterhouse.

Debbie recruited Ross to help her steal some expensive watches from the businessman's hotel room – only to end up sleeping with Tom while she was there!

And given that former EastEnders star Ned Porteous has joined the ITV soap's cast in a regular role as Debbie's latest love interest, it doesn't look like Ross will be in with a chance anytime soon.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
