Lucy Pargeter wanted to be an estate agent.

The 45-year-old actress has played Chas Dingle on 'Emmerdale' for almost 20 years but revealed that had she not gone into acting, she would have liked to have followed in her father's footsteps and ventured into property.

She said: "My career might have been in property if I'd not been an actress. My dad was an architect and quantity surveyor. I'd like to have done either estate agency or interior design. I've done it - buying houses, gutting them and moving on. I've been in my current house for seven years and that's the longest I've stayed anywhere."

However, the former 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!' star - who Lola, 16 and four-year-old twins Missy and Betsy with her ex-partner Rudi Coleano - revealed that she has no plans to quit the Yorkshire-based soap and would be "happy to retire" in her role as the former pub landlady after previously worrying that she would be written out of the show when her character was forced to sell The Woolpack.

She told MyWeekly: "It's weird not to see my character's name above the door of The Woolpack. It was upsetting for Chas to lose the pub and it was unsettling for me too. It was a massive relief to be told I was going back behind the bar as manager and that I'd be going back to live in The Woolpack again - back to normality.

"I'd quite happy retire at 'Emmerdale'. I'm never bored and it feels like I'm going to work with my best friends. Yorkshire is my home now. And with three kids, a dog and a mortgage, I love the fact that I'm in regular work."
