It's been a tough year for former Emmerdale star Mark Jordon, as the actor was accused of attacking a pensioner in a pub and subsequently went through a court hearing – although he was eventually found not guilty of unlawful wounding and assault.

And now Mark, who played Daz Spencer on the soap, has appeared on Good Morning Britain this morning (August 13) to speak out about what happened – and particularly how his relationship with his fiancé and co-star Laura Norton was affected by the court hearing.

He said: "This year has been incredible to find out who supports you and who will stand and be counted. Laura and I's relationship is stronger than it's ever been.

"To have friends and colleagues commit to coming to court to being there the whole way through, it's been an eye-opener and I'm very lucky."

The actor, who also had roles in both Coronation Street and Casualty, revealed the strain the hearing had placed on him, saying: "There were a lot of times Laura would tell me I was shouting out in my sleep and I had hives.

"But that sounds like a little violin moment, but what I'm trying to say was the stress accumulates and comes out in ways you don't know."

He ended by discussing whether he will be making a return to the soap – and it looks promising for fans of Daz Spencer.

When asked whether the opportunity is there for him to return, he said: "It was left open, thank goodness… the opportunity possibly to go back is something I hold dear to."

Emmerdale currently airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
