Emmerdale newcomer Dean Andrews has revealed that he wants his character Will Taylor to go head-to-head with Cain Dingle.

The Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes star has been cast as the ITV soap's newest villain, as his scheming character is currently out for revenge against Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton).

Next week's episodes see the ongoing stalker storyline escalate, as Will finally faces Harriet and tries to crush her with a coffin at the church. So with one big showdown crossed off the list, it seems Dean is already thinking about future on-screen targets.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other press about who he'd like to see Will clash with, Dean replied: "Obviously Cain. You've got a hard man coming in and you've got a hard man in there. It's got to happen at some point, I'd imagine.

"I don't know that, by the way, but Jeff Hordley is a great actor. I just think on screen it'd be pretty nice to have a tussle for a few months. I don't know what could come out of that.

"Hard men are hard men, aren't they? I hope that they keep my 'hard man' level at a certain level, like they've kept Jeff's at a level for a long time. It'd be great to do some stuff with him.

"It'd also like to keep something going with Harriet – whether it be vengeance or whether we become okay."

Dean also predicted that Cain might have to watch out if Will does become his enemy.

Asked whether Will is more dangerous than Cain, Dean replied: "Yeah, for sure. Well, he has been in that world. I know that Cain has been in and out – he is a Dingle and he's done some fighting in the village and that kind of stuff.

"But Will has just been in prison for 15 years. Before that, he's dealt with hard men and people who wanted money, but he has kept the top position. Well, until Harriet toppled him, he kept that top position!

"You don't keep that position without being the kind of guy that you don't really want to mess with. Cain has been in there for a while doing his thing, but it is just a village.

"Will doesn't really have any inclination about Cain, because as a character, he doesn't really know who he is. But as someone who does know the show, I would think that my character has the capabilities of knowing people way, way more dangerous than Cain."

Emmerdale currently airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with extra episodes at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
