Emmerdale star Rebecca Sarker shares scrapped story for Manpreet
Emmerdale star Rebecca Sarker has revealed which storyline for her character Manpreet Sharma was scrapped.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Rebecca shared: "Manpreet was first introduced as a love interest for Rishi, and early on there was an idea she would cheat on him with his son, Jai."
Expanding further, Rebecca added: "Originally she was meant to be a bit of a gold digger and a temptress, but I'm glad they didn't go down that route as it gave the character more longevity.

"Also, Chris Bisson (Jai) and I played brother and sister in Corrie 25 years ago, so I was a bit concerned at the thought of our characters having an affair!"
Rebecca played Nita Desai in Coronation Street from 1999 to 2000 and Chris starred as her brother Vikram from 1999 to 2002. Nita left the Street for Scotland to run her own shop, while Vikram ran away to Mumbai after getting involved in drug smuggling.
Rebecca joined Emmerdale in the role of Manpreet in 2018. Currently her character is coupled up with Charles Anderson, who Rebecca describes as the love of Manpreet's life.

"Charles is Manpreet's hero, and definitely the love of her life," she said. "They first met when she was in a very unhappy marriage with an abusive husband. People were rooting for them to get back together once they reconnected in the village, and they got their happy ending.
"She did turn down his recent proposal, only because it wasn't the right circumstances, but it's always been about Charles for her."
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
