Emmerdale star Reece Dinsdale has revealed how his villainous character Paul Ashdale reacts when Liv Flaherty confronts him next week.

Paul is finally caught out when his shady contact Connor (Danny Cunningham) spills the beans to Liv over his dark secrets.

Viewers know that Paul has been violent towards his son Vinny (Bradley Johnson) on a number of occasions over the past few months. The latest incident led to Vinny being rushed to hospital.

Once Liv (Isobel Steele) knows the truth next week, she confronts Paul in the wedding barn, a short time before he's due to tie the knot with Mandy.

Asked whether Paul could hurt Liv, Reece told Digital Spy and other media: "We've never seen any proof of Paul ever hitting a woman. We know that his father hit him – he was a drunkard and a gambler who'd come home and beat him.

"Paul learned very quickly how to protect himself and learned how to hit other people and share that terrible violence. But there's no evidence of him ever hitting a woman.

"However, he's a cornered animal now. He's trapped, he's in a barn and there's somebody with all the cards. Liv has got all the cards, all the facts, all the truth, and she's also got Aaron holed up in the Dingle house with Vinny and they're talking at one end.

"So we've interspersed these scenes with Vinny and Aaron talking. So at least Liv knows that she's got some back up and something getting solved at the other end."

Reece continued: "When Liv corners Paul, he does this thing that he always does – denies, denies, denies to start with. But she's got everything, so the more she says this, that and the other, you just see Paul losing his control.

"I can't say too much, but he takes it to a point where there's that decision – would he put her in danger or not? And we go right to the wire with that."

Show bosses have confirmed that next week's episodes will culminate in a disastrous stunt and the death of at least one character.

Emmerdale kicks off its big week on Monday, March 29 at 7pm on ITV.
