‘Emmerdale’: How Aaron and Liv’s ‘unbreakable bond’ will help heal sibling rift
Danny Miller and Isobel Steele believe that there’s an unbreakable bond between their Emmerdale characters Aaron and Liv Dingle.
Liv was arrested and put behind bars last year, when her brother Aaron's boyfriend, Ben Tucker (Simon Lennon) was murdered shortly after a nasty run-in with a drunk Liv.
Aaron disowned her before fleeing the village; but an innocent Liv was exonerated and went on to marry Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson).
Now, ahead of Aaron’s imminent return, star Miller admits that his alter ego has a tough task ahead of him after walking away when Liv needed him the most.
“I think he knows he’s probably got a lot of groundwork to make up,” he says. “He knows his gran’s not very well, so he’s come back to see her and in the meantime he can have an opportunity to see Liv and try and right the wrongs.

“He left on the back of quite a whirlwind of fighting and arguing and Liv’s drinking, and then everything that happened with Ben, he just obviously had to get away.”
But ultimately, Miller believes that Aaron and Liv can overcome their issues. “I think it’s a bond that you can’t really ever lose. Being away has made him realise that he needs to be there for her, and he wants to try and make amends. It’s a bond that’ll never break really, I think it’s just [been] damaged for a short term.”

Steele agrees with the sentiment — although she points out the huge impact Aaron’s departure has had on Liv. “I know she’s been happily married and she’s working on other relationships, but Aaron leaving the village was a massive hole in her life, and she’s really had to work to get over that.
“I think they need to have a chat and really work through what happened, and go back to the start where they do have a great relationship and a closeness that, like Danny said, can’t be broken.”
Next week, Sandra’s accomplice Terry heads to Mill Cottage to terrorise Liv, knocking her unconscious. As Terry leaves, he comes face to face with Aaron, who responds with a punch and gets himself arrested!
Later, at the hospital, a protective Vinny refuses to let Aaron see Liv. “She’s almost a bit too heartbroken to even say to go away,” Steele explains.
“It’s a little bit harder for her than [Aaron] simply saving the day. But it’s a complex issue, and if she wants to forgive him then she will - it just takes a bit of time.”
Viewers will have to tune in to find out whether these siblings can heal their rift. But for co-stars Miller and Steele, who are close friends in real life, their Emmerdale reunion has been much more enjoyable.

“I forgot how funny he was,” Steele reveals. “I’ve been a really serious actor for a year, and I’ve really been cracking on with it and getting my head down. And he’s come back and I’m struggling to keep it together a lot of the days. It’s really hard, he’s funny!
“I’m just really enjoying having him back, it’s just made me really silly!”
